It is FRIDAY!

I am laying in bed with my squishy pillow and blankie all comfy and snuggled in when the phone rings.

" 'llo"

It is one of those freakin' telemarketer recordings...

"Please hold while we connect you to the next....."

Click.

W.T.F.

One day I decide to sleep in before a doctor's appointment and some damn recording dials my number and puts ME on hold.

I have to wonder, who are the people that actually hold for the next available...

I mean a good percentage must or these annoying solicitations wouldn't continue to use this method.  They are nothing if not clever to find ways to get your ear.

I must confess, I am not on the do not call list.  Since I have an unlisted number, I don't get called that often and have never bothered to register.  Perhaps today is the day.  I really desperately needed that extra hour of beauty sleep.

My web site of the week is...

Fun With Telemarketers.  Just some clever ideas to fuck with them.

Have a great weekend boys and girls.

My trick is one or the other of these.

1) "Could you hold the line a moment?"

I then go and watch TV.

I've often wondered what the record is for them holding on for me...

2) I engage them in conversation with "What's the weather like where you are?" and "Have you always done this sort of thing?"

I once had a Telemarketer from New Delhi on the line for half an hour getting him to describe New Delhi to me.

After half an hour I said "Anyway thank you for your time" and hung up.

Works for me...

I strongly encourage telemarketer abuse... in any legal (and a few non-legal) form.

We are on the do not call list and we still get hounded day and night. Now, I have people calling looking for my brother. Apparently, he is in some sort of trouble. Again.

my number is in the phn book my first initial, last name...you would not believe the telemarketers that ask for lee, lucy, larry, or every other l name under the sun...makes it easy to say "nope, never heard of 'em" truthfully!

Oh I hate telemarketers. I try to be polite but sometimes their insistence that I listen to their spiel earns them a quick disconnect. Great post!
