My daughter has shitty taste in music.

There, I said it.

I have been pushing this fact out of my mind for several months lately in hopes that she would outgrow the hideous genre that she has adopted as her style.

Dare I name it?

Hip Hop and Top 40.

Lady Fucking Gaga??   God of Music...Say it isn't so!!!

She has been raised on a mixture of classic rock and new alternative.  Musicians that have something to say and use their talent to say it.  Her father is a musician as is her uncle and her brother.  They play real instruments, several each as a matter of fact and yet, computer generated CRAP is what she adores.

I have to wonder; where oh where did I go wrong?

More importantly, is there some kind of recovery program I can get her into?

LOL - I can so see you being pissed about this. I must admit to still being 13. I like all the Top 40 stuff and thats what my daughter listens to as well.

Lady Gaga - she may be a freak of nature but her songs are damn catchy.

Sometimes I listen to top 40 in my car, just because its high energy (which I need!)...but when my son asked for Lady Gaga the other day, I had an 'oh shit' moment. I think we are turning back to The Beatles, and Simon & Garfunkel for now! If my husband has his way, our son will have all 'Rush' albums memorized soon.

The Evil Twin loaded up our 12 yr olds MP3 player with the "oldies".

The kid chose "Smoke on the Water" as his cell phone ring tone! LOL.

I like it all. I grew up on classic rock and still love it, but also like most new stuff.

Quick, an intervention is called for. Tie her down and put headphones on and play country until she becomes human again. It is a battle for her soul. Be tough!

IDK, really. I mean, I love acoustic stuff usually, but, to me, most music sounds pretty damn good if you'd just try to understand what the artist is trying to convey from it. It all boils down to personal preference in the end. Get it? In The End? Hyuk, hyuk! :D

Chalk it all up to different strokes for different folks.

It used to drive me nute when my twin cousins, who are 12 years younger than me would dance around to The Spice Girls when their Dad had 3000+ albums of good music at their disppsal. Luckily, they have grown out of it.

Um...Gaga is awesome. I love pop music. But I think I am 16 year old at heart.

I can understand it. My daughter is the same age and listens to the same crap. It's no different than our parents referring to our music as "That damn noise", lol. No kid really wants to like what their parents do.

You don't have to Love your Daughter's music - You only have to Love your Daughter

The music may not mean something to you but have you asked your daughter what this music means to her?
